Taj Maddox, Graduate Counseling Intern
Hi, I’m Taj and I am at Live Oak Counseling’s McDonough, Georgia location. I work with teens (13+), young adults, and adults who are ready to find hope, healing, and healthier ways to cope with life’s challenges.
I provide a safe, welcoming space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment. Many of my clients come to me for help with anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship challenges, and setting healthy boundaries. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered as we work together toward meaningful change.
My approach is eclectic and collaborative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. This allows me to meet you where you are and create a counseling experience tailored to your needs, personality, and goals. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and create practical steps toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Having grown up in Henry County, I’m deeply connected to the McDonough community and passionate about serving the people here. I believe that taking care of yourself is productive—and a powerful first step toward building the life you want.
I’m currently earning my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Georgia State University. My certifications include Psychological First Aid and SYMBIS facilitation for couples preparing for marriage or wanting to strengthen their relationship.
When I’m not in session, you might find me baking, practicing restorative yoga, walking the Atlanta BeltLine, enjoying archery, or trying new restaurants. I’m also a proud Marine sister and part of the law enforcement family—thank you all for your service.
Healing is a journey, and you don’t have to take the first step alone. If you or your teen are ready to begin, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
